Middle Years Programme (MYP)

New Town High School is an authorized IB World School. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a curriculum framework designed for learners aged 11–16 by the International Baccalaureate (IB). The MYP is a five-year programme, which can be implemented in a partnership between schools or in abbreviated two-, three- or four-year formats.

New Town’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) classes are English 9, 10, Spanish and French, American Government, World History, Earth Systems, Living Systems, Algebra I, Geometry, Fundamentals of Art and Fitness Foundations/Fitness Mastery.

The International Baccalaureate's Middle Years Programme offers a rigorous and comprehensive set of objectives that informs classroom instruction. MYP objectives and strands are taught and assessed through classroom instruction, the use of sound pedagogical techniques, IB’s Approaches to Learning, and the IB Summative Assessment procedures.

These objectives are taught in conjunction with and alignment to the Baltimore County Public Schools curriculum, outlined by the content offices of the school system, BCPS Policy 6000 and COMAR.
