What is the Career-related Programme (CP)?
The CP is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique programme addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education.
The programme leads to college/university, apprenticeships or employment.
The CP curriculum
CP students undertake a minimum of two IB courses, a core consisting of four components and a career-related study.
For CP students, DP courses provide the theoretical underpinning and academic rigor of the programme; the career-related study further supports the programme’s academic strength and provides practical, real-world approaches to learning; and the CP core helps them to develop skills and competencies required for lifelong learning.

Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences
|
The Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences (BMS) program follows proven, hands-on, real-world, problem-solving approaches to learning. Students explore the concepts of human medicine and are introduced to topics such as anatomy, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health. Exploration of these concepts prepares students for entrance into a college STEM program. Transcripted college credit may be earned from Stevenson University.

Food & Beverage Management

The Food & Beverage Management program provides students with a challenging and diverse curriculum in one of the world’s fastest growing fields. Students explore job opportunities and career pathways included in the food service industry by utilizing the ProStart program developed by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Instruction includes basic food and bakeshop production, nutrition and management training. Service skills, human relations skills, and menu development are included in the restaurant management curriculum.

IT CISCO
Networking
|
The IT Networking CISCO Program provides students a broad understanding of computer operations, programming, networking, and cybersecurity. This pathway is a partnership between Cisco Systems and the Baltimore County Public Schools. This career program prepares students for entry-level employment in the computer networking/repair field. Students receive hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, Wi-Fi routers and state of the art equipment. Completion of classes will prepare students for industry certifications, ex CompTIA A+, CCENT, CCNA, Network +.

Interactive Media Production
|
The Interactive Media Production program assists students in gaining mastery with programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Premier Pro and After Effects. Students gain skills required to be recognized as an Adobe Certified Associate. Students are prepared for employment as graphic designers, media planners, multimedia specialists, broadcasting/film/video public relations officer, and television/film/video producers.

IT Computer Science
|
The IT Computer Science Program prepares students for further study and careers in the field of computer science. Students complete a sequence of four courses, starting with an overview of the Computing and Information Technology field and progressing through a more in-depth study of computer science. Throughout the program, students will learn all aspects of Computer Science. Students can earn college credit by taking the AP Computer Science Principles and the AP Computer Science A exams.

In addition to completing one of the CP programs listed above, the Career-related Program (CP) Core requirements include:
- Two IB courses (in 11th and 12th grade)
- The Reflective Project that emphasizes the ethical dilemma associated with a particular issue drawn from the student’s career-related studies (completed in 12th grade)
- The Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) course that emphasizes the development of transferable skills needed to operate successfully in society (in 11th and 12th grade)
- The Service Learning component that encourages learning and emphasizes the affective development of students and concentrates on the concepts of community partnerships (in 11th and 12th grade)
- Completion of 50 or more hours of Language Development (Spanish or French) and completion of a Language Portfolio (in 11th and 12th grade)
