Meet our AVID Team!

Alyssa Mason Alyssa Mason: AVID 9
[email protected]

Hello AVID Family! My name is Alyssa Mason and I have the privilege of teaching our wonderful AVID 9 students. I have been teaching in the Baltimore County Public School System for 7 years. This is my first year teaching at New Town High School in which I am a proud alum and AVID scholar! Prior to coming to New Town, I was previously a science special educator, science teacher, and AVID coordinator. I received my Bachelors in Science in General Science with a minor in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University and my Masters in Art in Teaching in Secondary Science and Special Education from Goucher College.

I often refer to teaching at New Town as “Being home” because I grew up and lived in the Randallstown/Owings Mills area. Currently, I live with my husband and soon-to-be 8 month-old son downtown. One of my favorite things to do is to spend time with my family and friends but in my spare time, I enjoy crafting, bingeing my favorite shows and movies, and trying new restaurants with my husband who is a Research & Development chef.

Hello all! I'm Rebecca Sanna and I have taught at NTHS for the past 6 years! Before becoming the AVID Coordinator, I taught science at New Town. I earned my bachelor's degree from Towson University and I have returned to Towson to earn my Master's degree. I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you as we work together to support our students in reaching their full potential.
When I am not in New Town, I enjoy being creative in my craft room, doing pilates, trying to get through my tower of books, and going on photography adventures with my husband.

Hello everyone. My name is Elizabeth Ward. I will be teaching American Government and AVID 10th -11th Grades. I grew up near Ocean City, Maryland and have lived in Baltimore County the last 4 years. After graduating from Towson University with a B.S. in History I started on my career path into education with plans of earning my Master degree in the near future. This is my first year at New Town High School. Last year I taught in the Virtual Learning Program for Baltimore County teaching English, Science, and AVID. I am looking forward to working with everyone to help students reach their goals. Some things I like to do are going to the movies, reading books, baking new concoctions, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
